The Waterberg wilderness reserve is a nature reserve with the main objective of conserving nature and the species that occur within the reserve.

Sustainable ecotourism is there to support and not detract or affect the ecology of the reserve. The ecology and wildlife will always have preference but the ecotourism assists in generating the revenue required to maintain the reserve.
